Katja Dapous: Katja is a master cabinet maker with extensive international experience. Her professional portfolio includes several years as the Head of the Polishing Department of Steinway UK in London, a commission to repair the Sultan of Oman’s Steinway grand piano in Muscat, several years of activity as a cabinet maker in Glasgow (where she also restored pieces for Sotheby’s and attended the University of Strathclyde) and many years of experience in her field in Germany. In addition she worked in Tokyo/Japan as a cabinet maker.

Katja is also an active member of the Forest Stewardship Council and is thus committed to support the aims and mission of FSC in Germany. The FSC is, in particular, dedicated to promoting responsible stewardship of the world’s forests.

Manager

Petra Janssen: Head of the team. Professionally at home in industry, Petra would usually not consider water her natural habitat. She is fascinated, however, by the idea of introducing morokoros on the German market and therefore supports this project from a business point of view.

Distribution and Sales

Michael Schumacher: Michael lives in Rodgau near Frankfurt am Main. After his qualification as a blacksmith, he got a degree in engineering education. For several years, Michael trained Cuban students as well as teaching engineering in Chemnitz. He gained extensive work experience as an editor and supervisor and now works as a member of the editorial board of managers for a well-known calendar publisher in Mainz.
Michael is jointly responsible for Morokoro’s marketing, distribution and sale.

Distribution and Sales

Christine O’Hara: Christine works and lives with her family in Cologne. Prior to her studies at the University of Cologne, she lived in London and Glasgow. She worked for several years for „The Body Shop“ as well as the German national TV station „WDR“ before taking up a permanent position as a certified social worker. In her work Christine deals with many people from a great variety of backgrounds. Music, sports and nature form an important part of her life. As a member of the Morokoro team, she’s responsible for distribution and sale.

Distribution and Sales

Graham van Wyk: A sociologist and educationalist from South Africa, Graham sees Morokoro as an exciting opportunity to contribute to supporting traditional boat-building skills in Southern Africa among coastal, river and lake-side communities. Traditional crafts and knowledge need not disappear when new opportunities can be developed to sustain and develop them for the benefit of the local economy. Morokoro's work with the boatbuilders of Mozambique will open up new possibilities for economic and cultural partnerships. He will seek to develop new markets outside Germany and develop Morokoros' contribution to the communities its work will touch. He lives and works in Oxford, England.
